Youghal Mackerel Festival, 2013

A foodie festival swimming with the very best Youghal has to offer. This unique festival sees Mackerel cooked, grilled and bar-b-qued in the open air by local chefs. Food trails, samples, family fun activities and live entertainment free for all.

Friday 30th August, 2013
Fish Trail
Fish trail commences at 7:30pm at Clancy’s Bar & Restaurant and continues to the following restaurants – Walter Raleigh Hotel Seafood Restaurant, Capri Bay, The Lighthouse Brasserie, Luigi’s, Bella Roma, The Quays Bar, The Old Imperial Hotel, The Red Store, The Codfather and Ahernes Seafood Restaurant. Complimentary tasting of mackerel fish starters
Name our Mackerel Kids competition’
Enter a great fun name for our Mackerel Mascot, entries to Toy Master, South Main Street, Youghal on or before Thursday 29th August. Prize presented at Saturdays Opening Ceremony.
Exhibition of paintings
Exhibition of paintings by 2nd year students from Pobal Scoil na Trionoide will be on display from Thursday 22nd August at Youghal Credit Union.
Saturday 31st August, 2012
2:30pm The official opening ceremony accompanied by Youghal Pipers will be in Barry’s Lane by Tim Magee, the original motivator for the creation of the Youghal Bay Seafood Pie. Tim has been travel and destination dining columnist at The Gloss Magazine as ‘Man in a Suitcase’ in the Irish Times for the past 3 years. Followed by naming the winner of ‘Name our Mackerel’ Kidds Competition and prize-giving.
MC for the weekend – Mr. Tommy Collins.
2pm Aquatrek Sailing Competition – From Aquatrek premises, Strand Street, Youghal. No entry fee.
2:30 – 5:30pm Local Food Stalls
2:30pm Beach Volleyball Fun Challenge on The Mall Beach.

3-5:30pm Ron -The Party Potter – (3 potters wheels for kids) – Professional guidance for kids who decorate each piece with beautiful gemstones to take home.

4-6pm Arkadia Showband – Live on the Stage by the Clock Gate!
5pm Announcement of winners of Sailing and Volleyball Competitions – Prizes presented by Youghal 4 All Chairman to the winning participants of the Aquatrek Sailing Competition and Volleyball Competition.
7:30pm Free Concert in St. Mary’s Collegiate Church, Youghal
Fish supplied by local fishing boats, Sea Lion, Kay Paula, Maisie J, Fearless II and special thanks to Youghal Boat Club. We gratefully acknowledge the assistance of all who helped and supported us in any way including C.R.Y. and The Order of Malta.
The above event will be held in the Red Store if the weather is bad.
